At PEFC we highly value the opportunity for fellowship and growth provided by small
groups. We encourage everyone to be a part of a group and see the difference
it can make in their lives and relationships. Many discover that they make special
connections with people, deepen their understanding of the Bible and grow in their
personal faith in small groups.
What is a Small Group?
A Small Group is a relaxed home fellowship made up of 8-12 people who meet weekly to
share, study together and support one another. After a time of light refreshments and
greetings, an assigned group leader will guide the group through a time of prayer, reflection
and fellowship together. An average small group would last about an hour and a half.
What does Sermon-Based mean?
Our Small groups are Sermon-Based, meaning that we reflect on the previous Sunday
Sermon. If you miss a Sunday Sermon, it is recommended that you catch up online, but that
is not essential. You will still be able to enjoy the discussions and fellowship without having
been at the services. The hand-out provides questions for reflection, further exploration,
and our personal application.
Where are the Small Groups held?
Most of our small groups are hosted by people in the church who open up their homes,
while one of our daytime meetings is held in our church cafeteria. There are multiple groups
available in Peacehaven, as well as Saltdean and Seaford.
When do Small Groups run?
The groups run on Wednesdays for 5 weeks at a time, separated by school breaks. Please
see the church calendar for exact dates. Usually, groups start around 7pm, but this
may vary slightly from group to group and the daytime group meets at 10 am.
Can I change my Group?
It might take a couple of groups before you find your preferred fit, but don’t worry, you’ll
find it! It’s all quite flexible and you can easily change groups, but, where possible, we
request that people commit to a group for the 5 week duration before requesting to
change. This will give us the 2 weeks between to reshuffle and reassign you. However,
people often say that when they stick with a group for a long time, God knits hearts and
builds relationships, so don’t change groups too hastily.
