Chillax Christian Youth Group

What is Chillax Christian Group ?

Chillax is our young peoples club where they can come and chill and relax in a safe environment.

Dear Chillax Parents and Families,

We are excited to be starting up “Chillax Christian Youth Group” again for another school year.

We thank God for each child and each family and welcome everyone back to Chillax! This was our first year with our new pastor at the helm and we are so blessed to have had such a special time last year. We are so thankful to be able to provide a safe, fun, caring Christian environment. During the evening program we have free-time with the snack bar open throughout the night and then a group time of fun Christian songs, a short Bible teaching and sometimes a group game to follow. This year we have some new equipment and games ordered and look forward to some great Friday nights ahead. There have been certain considerations made on the age requirements for the group and it has been concluded that this should be determined by the school year the child currently attends, rather than a specific age. Therefore, Chillax would be open for children from year 3 to year 7. (We understand that some children who have just turned 7, yet still in year 2, may be sorry to hear this and we are open to consider those cases, so please let us know). On the other end of the age bracket, we are very happy to announce that we are starting a Christian Youth Group aimed at secondary school ages, which will be from year 7 children and up. Several of the year 7 children in Chillax have expressed an interest in something for older children and you will notice an overlap for year 7 students who are welcome to attend both groups, at least for this year. This older group will meet just once a month to start with and will be on Sunday nights, probably from 6-8pm (time to be confirmed). In addition to the main monthly meetings we hope to offer some other special events throughout the year for those interested. Our first meeting will be Sunday Oct 14th at the church building (where chillax is also held). The program will include food (so children can bring some money to donate towards for pizza, drinks etc), some fun ice-breakers, music, a Bible talk together and some group games in the gym. We would also like to take this opportunity to extend a warm invitation to you and your family to visit our Sunday morning services. We have a Sunday School for primary school ages and a Crèche for mothers and babies. This past year we have seen new families coming into the church and it’s exciting to see what is happening. It’s a very welcoming church family and we would love to see you any Sunday at 10:30 am. We are excited to have now started up CHILLAX Christian Youth Group again on Fridays 6-8pm; Our program still includes all of the various amenities like table tennis, pool, games in the gym,  board games and some selective video games on the big screen.   We are also now incorporating certain group games, Christian songs and a short bible teaching by our pastor.  Please let us know if you have any questions or suggestions.

We would also take this opportunity to tell you that there are great things happening here at Peacehaven Evangelical Free Church and welcome you to come along and connect with other families and friends for our Sunday services at 10:30 am each week.  We have a Sunday school programme for 5-12 year olds and will soon have a new mothers room for mum’s with babies or tots.

Thank you from the team at PEFC

Chillax runs throughout the term times on Friday evenings. There is now just one session each Friday: 6.00pm to 8.00pm which is for School Chidren from year 3 up to year 7.

What we do at Chillax:

The sessions offer many activities which include arts & crafts, chess, board games, pool, snooker, table tennis, x-box,and ball games in the sports hall. We also have a tuck shop with free squash for all with can drinks for the older children.
Please note that we do not permit food and drinks to brought from home or shops unless agreed with the group leaders.

We sometimes have a Saturday afternoon with Dr Jonathan Hare. We made a two 'space' laboratories and then made communicators using light for speech.

A number of members help to paint nails, and the girls enjoy the girly chatter. We have other special evenings such as pizza, or hot dogs, onesie and best fancy dress.  Also we raise funds for different events by selling cakes and biscuits for Red Nose Day, Children in need and Teenage Cancer.

As we are part of the Church, the main leaders all have a Christian ethos. We usually display Christian literature with any leader on board to answer any questions the young people may ask.

All leaders follow the PEFC Child protection policy.
